Abstract

This study addresses the problem of gender violence within the family environment, as a psychologically pathogenic phenomenon; The objective focuses its interest on the diagnosis of its current condition in the municipality of Othón P. Blanco of the capital of the state of Quintana Roo, Mexico and the understanding of the preponderant causal factors. The theory of Horney's neurotic needs and their influence on behavioral tendencies was used as an explanatory model of behavior; the theory of psychological games developed by Berne that focuses on patterns of social interaction and how people engage in different situations to satisfy their emotional needs. The approach was qualitative, with a narrative design of life history of an autobiographical nature, addressing the personal stories of the subjects and the comments of their experiences; for this purpose, 34 subjects between 18 and 65 years of age were interviewed. Through the in-depth interview, the model of the subjects' world is explored, evaluating the narrative according to the indicators extracted from the Criteria-Based Content Analysis, to establish important aspects of the veracity of the discourse; to conduct the interview, the Metamodel proposed by Bandler and Grinder inspired by Chomsky's transformational grammar was used to provide assurance about the deep nature of the structure of language, going beyond the surface structure of the person's discourse. The results indicate that gender-based violence is the result of a mental disorder of both those who involve it and those who receive it; concluding that there are no victims or victimizers, but protagonists of a story.
